"To encourage recycling and composting by householders by supporting
communication and awareness training activity carried out by local partners."
Within the above, £0.5m is allocated to community sector.

3. Big Lottery Fund - Changing Spaces - £234m between 2006- 2007. One of three priorities is "local community enterprise"

Transforming Waste Programme
Part of the Fund's transforming communities initiative, this is a
delegated programme run on an open application basis. The award partner
accepts applications from community groups, etc. The programme supports
community recycling, reuse and composting projects to increase the
amount of waste collected in deprived communities.

4. "Futurebuilders" - relevant for community enterprises.
If you represent a voluntary or community organisation needing finance to
deliver public service Futurebuilders could be right for you. They provide a mixture
of loan and grant finance, together with support to help organisations build capacity
and increase effectiveness.

5. Adventure Capital Fund
The Adventure Capital Fund (ACF) was launched in December 2002. It was
set up to make new forms of investment in community organisations.The
ACF aims to strengthen local communities by investing in organisations
that work in and for those communities. By helping organisations to
become stronger and more self-sufficient through enterprise, the ACF aim
to help them become sustainable in the long term and better able to
control their own destinies by becoming less reliant upon short-term
grants.
The ACF is a unique funding combination of three government departments
plus several regional development agencies, and is delivered through a
partnership of leading players in social and economic regeneration.

7. ENTRUST -
is the private sector not-for-profit company which is approved by
Revenue and Customs as the sole regulator of the Landfill Tax Credit
Scheme. ENTRUST's prime responsibilities are to enrol qualifying
organisations as Environmental Bodies and to audit and inspect their
activities to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Landfill
Tax Regulations 1996.
